Jan Du Plain

Jan Du Plain serves as the CEO and President of Du Plain Global Enterprises, Inc., a global public relations, and special events company that represents a variety of media, international, cultural and diplomatic organizations.
Du Plain began her career on her father’s award-winning weekly newspaper in California, followed by a stint at a well-known literary agency in Hollywood, representing authors, screenwriters, and actors for motion picture companies. She also worked as the public relations liaison for CBS Cinema Center Films in New York City, public relations director of historic Ford’s Theatre, and served for 15 years as the public relations director for WETA TV and Radio, the third largest public broadcasting station in the United States.
Jan served on the Cultural Tourism DC executive team that launched Passport DC* and Around the World Embassy Tour almost fifteen (15) years ago and continues today—this unique program invites the public inside the embassies to celebrate their history, culture, and traditions from their respective countries.
Du Plain has served for almost ten (10) years as the Embassy Liaison at World Trade Center/DC (Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center), and is a part of the leadership team that produces their popular annual “in person” signature event, the Embassy Showcase: Winternational—currently, due to COVID, the program is now a “virtual” marketplace featuring artisans in countries around the world; she recently launched a new webinar series entitled “A Seat At the Table: Women in Global Leadership” featuring women Ambassadors, diplomats and global women leaders. Du Plain also recruits embassies for Events DC’S Embassy Chef Challenge, celebrating the culinary diplomacy of Washington DC and serves as their content developer to further create and produce programs such as “Backstage at the Helen Hayes Awards,” a three-episode series and “Diplomacy & Fashion,” a four-episode series for GATHER, a fully integrated, experiential virtual platform that provides a diverse array of entertainment and resources providing meaningful and memorable experiences for the viewers. She served on the executive team that launched “Global Tables: Ambassador/Chef Happy Hours” and Swahili Village- The Consulate DC’s Grand Opening and continues today as their Diplomatic Liaison at the newly renovated Ven at Embassy Row and as a public relations consultant for Women Business Collaborative, the fastest and largest growing movement for professional women in the USA.
She is a member of Protocol & Diplomacy (PDI-POA), the International Correspondents Committee of the National Press Club (NPC) the Leaders Council of the Women’s Business Collaborative (WBC) and serves on the Board of Directors of the American News Women’s Club and TheatreWashington, representing 90 theatres in Washington, DC.
Du Plain has received several awards including the 2016 Bernie Krug Award—the highest honor for contributions to the betterment and success of the National Press Club; as well as numerous Vivian Awards in appreciation for her excellent service; and the 2012 Alice Paul Alumni Award, Women & Politics Institute, School of Public Affairs, American University and in 2007, Mayor’s Proclamation to celebrate “Jan Du Plain Day” in honor of her life’s work in DC.
